Cooking up a good time

In an afternoon of lively conversation and cookery, the secret to making light-as-air gnocchi was revealed by none other than South Australian chef and food icon Rosa Matto at our Bene Italian Village.

Asking questions and taking down notes, event guests sitting alongside our residents and their families shared an intimate afternoon with Rosa and our kitchen crew as they demonstrated the art of gnocchi making.

A lucky few even got the chance to try their hand at rolling gnocchi alongside Rosa.

Then, of course, the all-important tasting. Spinach and ricotta gnocchi with pesto and the classic potato gnocchi and tomato sugo made with produce from Tony & Mark’s and Lucia’s Fine Foods.

Also at the event, Kent from Olive Oil Packaging Services got us excited about all things olive oil while Nonna’s Cucina offered up freshly made biscuits for a little something sweet.

Taste buds tantalised and eager to sign up for the next event, guests left with a special treat — their very own gnocchi boards to put to good use in their kitchens for the next family feast, courtesy of Globe Importers.

So, what is the secret to making gnocchi? You many have caught it on Radio Italiana who were broadcasting live from the event. If not, stay tuned for our next event in the new year.
