Bene Aged Care is delighted to announce the grand opening of our brand-new hairdressing salon at St Clair, a development made possible through the generous support of a grant from the City of Charles Sturt. This new addition to our facility is more than just a salon; it’s a testament to the power of community and the positive impact it can have on the lives of our residents.
Having an on-site hairdressing salon at St Clair had been a long-standing aspiration, however, several challenges, intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, hindered our efforts in securing a dedicated space and a hairdresser. It was during this time that Rachele Tullio, a member of the Charles Sturt Council and a family member of one of our residents, encouraged Bene to apply to the Discretionary Ward Allowance (DWA) grant. The $5,000 grant was designated for the purchase of fittings, fixtures, and equipment necessary for our on-site hair salon.
The funds were allocated towards comfortable furniture, state-of-the-art salon fittings, and essential equipment to ensure the salon is a welcoming and comfortable space for residents to enjoy. At Bene we believe that fostering a sense of belonging and community is essential for overall well-being and our salon will serve as a hub where residents can come together, share stories, and build lasting friendships.
The opening of our new hairdressing salon at St Clair is a testament to what can be achieved when community members, organisations, and local governments come together with a shared vision of enhancing residents’ lives. We extend our sincere gratitude to the City of Charles Sturt for their generous grant, which has enabled us to provide a vital service that promotes the well-being, dignity, and happiness of our residents. This salon is more than just a space; it’s a symbol of the caring and compassionate community that surrounds us.
